Marci Lynn McGuinness spent the snowiest winter in SW PA in Florida. Floridians thought it was cold there, but she laughed at them. 70 is NOT COLD.
In January 2010, she wrote
Message of the Sacred Buffalo, a full color illustrated children's book set to release in June. This is her 25th authored and published book, although she has published many books for other authors. The rest of the winter was spent editing and producing two such books.
Big laurel Rising, An Appalachian River Tale by N. David Clifton
and Knee Replacement Surgery, A Patient's Journey & a Journal For You by Diane V. Bryson, set to be released May 2010.
McGuinness second annual
Around Ohiopyle Map will be distributed just before Memorial weekend in Ohiopyle and the surrounding region.
She wrote and published five books, a screenplay and designed a tourism map Autumn 2008 - Autumn 2009. The author/publisher moved back to the mountains of Southwestern Pennsylvania from the Chesapeake Bay where she had worked and resided for 5 years, until September 2007.
During her "Bay Days" she worked as Columnist and Account Executive for
Spin Sheet Magazine (www.spinsheet.com) before accepting the Marketing Director and then Managing Editor positions at Cornell Maritime Press/Tidewater Publishers (
www.cmptp.com).
McGuinness is best known in Pennsylvania for her series of
Yesteryear books, her
Yesteryear Press magazine, and the many books and publications she produced while raising her twin daughters along the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle (
www.ohiopyle.info).
She graduated from Connellsville Senior High and, as stated in the 1973 yearbook, she became a publisher when she "grew up."
McGuinness and her Jack Russell Terrier, Jake, hike in Ohiopyle, swim at the swimming hole (in season), and are very happy to be back home in the mountains among family and old (well, you ARE!) friends. She enjoys escaping to the Florida beaches during the winter, though!
